Why is there a card fee?

Card payments cost us a processing fee from the card provider, and the card fee corresponds to that cost — we do not profit from it. To avoid the fee, pay by invoice or EHF; then you only pay the service fee. The fee applies to new Norwegian business accounts paying in Norwegian kroner.

What price applies to our company?

Do we get a better price if we send large volumes?

Does the recipient receive less than the gift amount?

No. The recipient receives the full gift amount. The service fee and VAT are paid by the company in addition.

How much does it cost to send a gift card?

The standard price for new customers is a 3% service fee, minimum 30 NOK per gift card, plus VAT on the fee. New Norwegian business accounts paying in NOK by card also pay a 2% card fee — invoice has none.

It is free to create a business account. You pay no setup fee, monthly fee, or binding period — only for the gift cards you send.

Standard price for new customers

The standard price is 3% of the gift amount, with a minimum fee of 30 NOK per gift card. If you send a gift card worth 500 NOK, 3% is only 15 NOK, so the minimum fee of 30 NOK applies.

If the company has used Glede for some time, you may have a different minimum fee or percentage rate. The price in the order overview before you send, and the specification on the invoice, is the rate that applies to your company.

Card fee on card payments

If you pay by card, a card fee of 2% of the order total is added, plus VAT on the fee. The fee corresponds to our card processing costs and is shown in the payment step before you choose. Invoice and EHF have no card fee. The fee applies to Norwegian businesses paying in Norwegian kroner, with accounts created on or after 1 September 2026 — the payment step always shows whether it applies to you.

VAT applies to the fees, not the gift amount

There is 25% VAT on the service fee and on any card fee. The gift amount itself does not have VAT upon issuance. The invoice and receipt show the gift amount, fees, and VAT on separate lines.

Example: gift card for 1,000 NOK

Gift Amount: 1,000 NOK
Service fee: 30 kr
VAT on the service fee: 7.50 NOK
Total to pay: 1,037.50 NOK

The recipient receives the entire gift amount of 1,000 NOK. The service fee and VAT are the company's expense and are not deducted from the gift.

If you pay by card, the card fee is added: 2% of 1,037.50 NOK = 20.75 NOK, plus 5.19 NOK VAT — a total of 1,063.44 NOK. With invoice you pay 1,037.50 NOK.

If the gift is sent in another currency

When the company pays in one currency and the recipient receives the gift in another, there is usually a currency exchange fee of 5% in addition. The exact amount is displayed in the order summary before you send.

Pricing for larger sends

If you are sending larger volumes, you can ask for an offer that fits the volume rather than using the standard price. The same applies if you need consolidated invoicing or invoice with credit, want Glede connected to your systems, or are sending to employees in several countries.
