What is a universal gift card?

A universal gift card is not locked to a single store or chain. Glede is a Mastercard that the recipient can spend everywhere Mastercard is accepted, online and contactless via Apple or Google Wallet. Mastercard reports more than 150 million acceptance locations globally.

Everywhere Mastercard is accepted — in-store, online, and abroad. Mastercard reports more than 150 million acceptance locations in its global network, although individual merchants and certain industries may be excluded for Glede.

How long is the gift card valid?

The gift link must be opened within 4 months. Once the card is activated in the Glede app, the balance can be spent fee-free for 12 months.

Does it cost anything to use?

Paying in the card’s own currency is fee-free for 12 months after activation. The sender pays the 3 % service fee. The recipient may pay a 2.99 % currency markup in another currency, a 5 % fee if they convert the gift itself, and 34 kr per month after 12 months from activation.

Can it be used at an ATM?

No. The card programme does not allow ATM withdrawals, money transfers or other financial services. For employer gifts, the employer remains responsible for assessing the applicable tax rules.

Can I deliver the gift card physically?

Yes. You can download the gift card as a PDF with a QR code that takes the recipient straight to the gift. Select "Gift link" as the delivery method when ordering.

How does the recipient get the gift card?

Via SMS or email with a link. They open and activate the gift, complete any identity checks required for that recipient, and get the card on their phone.

Businesses normally prepay an invoice with 14-day terms unless credit has been approved. Individuals pay by card. The recipient activates the gift and can add the card to Apple or Google Wallet.
