How much does it cost?

It is free to create an account. You pay a 3% service fee per gift card sent, with a minimum of NOK 30, excluding VAT. There is no setup fee, monthly fee or commitment.

Can we pay by invoice or EHF?

Accepted Answer

Yes — invoice or EHF. If your business is approved for credit, the gifts are sent immediately and the invoice follows. Otherwise, the invoice must be paid before the gifts are sent. Monthly consolidated invoicing is a separate agreement for larger customers.

Is there a minimum quantity or order value?

No. You can send one gift or several thousand, and choose the amount per recipient yourself. There is no minimum order and no obligation to send a certain volume.

What happens to gifts that are not used?

Accepted Answer

The amount is non-refundable, and we say it outright. We have tested a model with refunds in exchange for a higher service fee, but the customers were not willing to pay for it. In return, you can see in the order overview which gifts have been redeemed, so you can follow up yourself. If a refund is important to you, contact us — then we will look at it again.

How much can we give tax-free?

In Norway, an employer can generally give non-cash gifts worth up to NOK 5,000 per employee per calendar year tax-free. Separate limits may apply to jubilee and long-service gifts.

Why is the gift card tax-free when a cash amount is not?

Accepted Answer

Because the card cannot be exchanged for money. There are no cash withdrawals, no transfers to a bank account, and no purchases of currency or securities. That is precisely why it is considered a gift and not salary.

Can the gift card be redeemed for cash?

Accepted Answer

No, and that is intentional. A gift card that could be exchanged for money would be considered salary and be taxable.

How quickly can the recipient get started?

Accepted Answer

The recipient receives an SMS or email with a personal greeting and a link, places the card directly in Apple Wallet or Google Wallet, and can use it immediately — in-store and online.

Does it work for all employees — both iPhone and Android?

Accepted Answer

The card can be added to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet on compatible phones and used contactlessly in stores. Online, the card number, expiration date and CVC are used. Employees without a compatible smartphone can choose a multi-choice gift card or use the gift balance to support a charity in the browser.

Can recipients under 18 use the gift?

Yes, but a gift card sent by a business can only be activated as a Glede Mastercard by recipients aged 18 or over. Younger recipients can choose a multi-choice gift card from the available brand partners or donate the gift to charity instead. Both alternatives work in the browser without the Glede app.

Which countries can we ship to?

Recipients in Norway and Sweden receive Glede Mastercard — the digital card they add to Apple Wallet or Google Wallet. Recipients in the other countries we support receive a multi-choice gift card instead: they choose a gift card from one of our brand partners, in their own currency. If you send to a country other than your own, a currency exchange fee of 5% applies.

How long is the gift card valid?

The recipient has 4 months to open the gift. After the card is activated, it is fee-free for 12 months; a monthly maintenance fee then applies. We remind the recipient while a gift is still unopened.

Can the recipient give the gift to a good cause instead?

Accepted Answer

Yes. The recipient can use the remaining gift balance to support one of our donation partners, directly in the browser — without downloading the app.

Who can create an account with Glede?

Accepted Answer

Companies registered in Norway or Sweden. It is free to create an account, with no binding period, setup agreement or training requirement.

Question 15

How many can we invite into the business account?

Accepted Answer

As many as you want. Invite colleagues as members or administrators at no extra cost — you only pay for the gift cards that are actually sent.

Can we use our own logo and profile?

Accepted Answer

Yes. Choose the company's colors and logo once, and the recipient will see your profile throughout the entire gift experience — from the message they receive to the card in their wallet.

Can we send from our HR system?

Accepted Answer

Yes. We have an open REST API, punchout from the procurement system (OCI and cXML), and ready-made connections to HR systems. You can also upload recipients from Excel if that is easier.

Can we see if the gifts are actually being used?

Accepted Answer

Yes. In the order overview, you can see who has opened, activated, and used their gift, so you can follow up with those who have not redeemed it. You see the status, not what each individual has purchased.

Question 19

What happens to the money if Glede goes bankrupt?

Accepted Answer

The gift card funds for activated gifts are held in separate client accounts with our card issuer and belong to the recipients, not Glede's operating funds. They cannot be used to cover Glede's debts.

Question 20

How do you process personal data?

Accepted Answer

At activation, we ask for the recipient's name, date of birth, and address so Glede can carry out the necessary customer checks. Glede and relevant service providers process the information as described in the privacy policy. The company that gave the gift can see gift-card status, but not what the recipient has purchased.

Question 21

Who must log in with BankID, and why?

Accepted Answer

The person who creates the business account confirms their identity with BankID as part of the required customer checks. Recipients do not need BankID to use the gift card.

Question 22

Is the Glede card a credit card?

Accepted Answer

No. It is a digital Mastercard gift card, so the recipient can only use the balance on the card. The balance can never be negative, and there is no credit limit or bill afterwards.
