BustByte is an IT consulting company based in Oslo. They are a team of 11 and help their clients build tailor-made, high-quality IT solutions.
Eirik Fosse is the founder of the company and is in charge of gifting employees. They are a tight-knit team, and Eirik sees the Christmas gift as an especially important gesture — a way to show appreciation for the work everyone has put in over the year. He also values being able to give gifts that employees don’t have to pay tax on.
Eirik shares what they look for when gifting employees:
We want a gift that lands with everyone. The team should actually get use out of it. And it has to be easy for us to buy.
BustByte used to alternate between physical gift cards tied to specific stores and other physical Christmas gifts. But Eirik ran into challenges with both approaches.
“The main problem with other gift cards is that they often have to be used at one specific store. People kept forgetting to use them.”
When we’ve given physical gifts, it’s been hard to find one that works for everyone. People’s tastes are different.
Glede made Christmas gifting easy
When an employee at BustByte tipped Eirik off about Glede, he was immediately interested.
I checked out the product, and it looked like a really good solution that lets employees buy whatever they want!
Looking back, here is what he liked best about Glede:
- Easy to order — “The whole Christmas gift job was done in a few minutes!”
- Easy to use — “Apple Pay and Google Pay integration makes the gift card super simple to spend.”
- Almost impossible to forget — “Every time you pay with Apple or Google Pay, the gift card pops up. Hard to forget about it! Glede also sends SMS reminders when the expiry date is approaching.”
- Works for everyone — “With Glede I don’t have to spend ages thinking up a gift that suits the whole team.”
Afterwards, Eirik checked in with the recipients to hear about their experience.
“The feedback has been unanimously positive. We all have different interests and different things we need. With Glede, every single employee can buy something they actually enjoy.”
Most people spent their gift card on a physical present, but I know one of our employees used it for 5–10 meals from Foodora.
Eirik has no doubt he would recommend other companies use Glede for Christmas gifts.
“It’s really easy to give and to use. And everyone gets something they actually want. Without giving away what this year’s Christmas gift will be, I can say with certainty that Glede was a big hit for us last year!” he concludes.
